Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
