Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Genuine Supporters'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they cannot be real Spurs supporters" by manager Frank.
Spurs conceded a pair of scores in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.
However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' second goal when the keeper lost possession far beyond his box.
He ventured out to deal with a long ball and took the ball near the touchline.
But, instead of booting it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.
King passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.
Moments afterwards when the ball went to the keeper once more, a number of Tottenham fans jeered him.
The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.
One of those jeering sessions truly angered the manager.
"I heard some of our fans apparently booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"[They] cannot be real Spurs fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are behind each other going forward."
Tete had handed the visitors a early lead before Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second-half showing.
Ex- top-flight keeper Hart stated that the second score was "completely avoidable".
"I do appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the role Vicario is playing. He's a great team player, he is a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.
"The keeper was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning score."
'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game
Italy international the keeper is in his third season with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said after the match that he had to take the criticism.
"That score was a error of mine, I take responsibility for it," he commented.
"My aim was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger challenge to overcome."
He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.
"It's on us to remain more composed, to focus on ourselves. We are lacking in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad defeat and it is hard to take."
'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'
Despite the keeper's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to score.
In fact it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.
Ten seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson shooting – which was 5 moments following the kick.
"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the area for ages," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest sparked a bit.
"Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little additional time. After that it was all about trying to achieve the correct connection and place it towards goal. I had a positive sense, the moment it left my boot, that it was on the right line."
'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Work Against You'
Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank
Although the keeper's mistake dominated coverage, this was an overall poor performance for Tottenham to extend their home struggles.
This was their tenth at home loss of the year in the Premier League, a joint club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.
They still have home games against Frank's old side the Bees and champions the Reds to come before the end of the season.
Just a single of those wins have occurred since Frank took over from his predecessor in the summer.
"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," said the boss.
"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to work against you too – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a mistake from the keeper.
"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional match. Each fixture has a single narrative, this game we were defeated in the early stages.
"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."
Spurs have lost four straight home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.
Furthermore they are recording nine point five shots and three point two shots on target per game in the division – their poorest averages on file in a one campaign (since at least 2003-04).
Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.
"He must accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He's taken a high profile job at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
