Star Refutes Anti-Vax Views After Voicing Controversial Coronavirus Feature
The "Taken" star has lent his vocal talents to a recent film that questions the efficacy of vaccinations and praises ex- cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Feature's Disputed Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a bestselling book published by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for claims that the virus was a result of a faulty batch of the influenza shot.
The publication's writing partner, the executive producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone media personality Alex Jones. He wrote online hailing Neeson's involvement in the film.
A Firm Statement
Representatives for Neeson have issued a response pushing back against suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.
"We all acknowledge that misconduct can exist within the drug industry, but that should never be conflated with being against vaccines," the response explains. "Liam has never been, and is not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with the global charity underscores his consistent support for public-health initiatives."
It noted that the performer was not involved in crafting the documentary's messaging and that questions about its claims are best addressed to the producers.
Key Claims Within the Film
As presented, the script provided by Neeson includes several provocative claims:
- It suggests that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It declares that "science has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is shown claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
- The film also criticizes stay-at-home orders, arguing they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it references a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Historical Background and Current Debates
The documentary includes a 2004 BBC documentary about HIV drug testing on children, which was later the topic of a correction by the network for violations of guidelines.
Recently, Kennedy instructed the CDC to revise its longstanding position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is repeated in the film, even with a recent study from the World Health Organisation reiterating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Position of Endorsement
Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has previously expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," stating that "The conversation about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration saying, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. Rather, it is the start of a fresh chapter."
