Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
