A man from Australia that leaped past a barrier and touched celebrity Ariana Grande has been sent away and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was handed a penalty to over a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told Singaporean press.

He forced his way past photographers and approached aggressively the actress and singer, who was present at the regional launch for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

Wen has a history of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.

The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with many claiming he of triggering past trauma for the singer.

The singer has spoken of suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her concert in the UK city in May 2017 resulted in the deaths of over twenty people and injured hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had made efforts to breach on the movie's debut twice, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a follow-up try to cross the barriers. Protection personnel prevented him and held him in place.

Wen later posted videos thanking Grande for letting him on the carpet and said he was "free."

Police arrested him the subsequent day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Court Judge the judicial official was referenced by media reports as stating that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was wrong to assume he would not suffer any consequences.

The actress has not addressed the situation.

Erivo discussed the incident to NBC, remarking that she "just wanted to make sure my co-star was protected."

"I believe he didn't mean us danger, but you can't predict with such situations, and I wanted to ensure that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
