Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
