Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden Fall Classic after the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Down by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming World Series.

"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now connected for 23 total October home runs, ranking him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation other than him with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" after his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.

Toronto won the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
